Trans-Am Snowflake Wheels
So I was poking around YearOne's site and stumbled across these:
http://www.yearonewheels.com/Year-On...SFW179BLK.aspx
I think they'd look pretty awesome on a 1972. Would there be any problem with these specs?
17 X 9 cast aluminum "Snowflake" wheel with 4-7/8" backspace. 5 on 4-3/4" bolt circle.
Same bolt pattern, slightly deeper backspace?

I had a 79 Trans Am with them and I know they fit fine on a 1980 Corvette. Year one also makes then in 17 and I think 18 inch.

Put those on your Vette and you'll be able to drive to Texarkana and back in 28 hours.

I have four factory 15x8s on my '78 Firebird. Now you have me curious to try one on my '71 Corvette. The Firebird is getting the 18" snowflakes from Year One. It's surprising how much more expensive the 18" are than the 17".

I am not sure what they will look like on a corvette but I always loved the look on the old TA's. I always heard them referred to as honeycomb wheels.

Honeycomb wheels are different from the snowflakes. These are the honeycombs (usually seen on early 70's TA's, snowflakes on later '70's TA's):

The honeycombs were different. The had five hexagons around the center. The snowflakes are more, um, snow flakey.

Oh - OK. I didn't know there were two styles - early and later. Makes sense and both look great IMHO. On a Vette, though? I am not sure.

My dad ran an original set of 15X8 on his 65 vette back in the 80's. In fact, they are currently on the car while it sits awaiting an restoration. He repainted the centers red to match the car.
