Distributor Story-ZIP Makes Good
I ordered all the new parts from ZIP and ran into some frustrations in re-doing the 1974 distributor. That is documented here.

Keep in mind my early university training is as a biologist although I have a mechanical bent. But I guess I did not bend far enough to understand the inner workings of a tach-drive unit. There is much more involved than just hammering in new bushings.
Thankfully Justin Abbott of ZIP took up my cause as seen at the end of that thread. I shipped the distrib body along with new bushings/mainshaft down to him to have things done properly.
The unit arrived back this week. To my surprise (pleasant) the darn thing was re-done with new bushings, mainshaft, drive gear (shimmed properly), points plate, vacuum can, and points and condensor.
I want to emphasize that there was no charge for this service. Not for parts, not for labor, not for shipping back.
I did mention to Justin that such repairs are not for neophytes like me and the web site might make mention of this.
Justin, you are a credit to the Corvette community. I sincerely thank you.
