Mine is relatively early, Nov 13 1967. (A MONDAY )
I don't sweat the small stuff, so no, never worried about those lights not working. I always use my seatbelt and keep the doors closed, so how do I even know the lights don't work? I thought my fiberoptics were not connected, but then one night in the dark garage.... I saw them!

Seriously though I have a "seat belt lamp" with a single black wire that dead ends into the bulkhead connector - no wire on the engine side
Damn it Roger, I was hoping that you were going to come back and enlighten us.

As far as your seatbelt lamp, I assume you're talking about the lamp itself? I have spare pieces and should be able to hopefully explain how that works.
Let me see if I still have everything in my photobucket account, if not I'll find the parts and take new pictures.

My 68 is also a June car (june 13th) and has the overide light.

So far we have Dec. set up like both of yours and both my June cars with the o'ride light.

PRNDL, Have you checked into why the lamps yours has don't work? I know when I re-installed my seat belt light button I push the clip on too far and that keeps the light off. I'm going to fix that one of these days, I just hate the thought of taking that stuff apart again.
Both of my 68's...1-SB 1-BB are March build dates (exactly 500 apart) and they both have the O'ride along with seat belt(with the push button below it to turn it off manually) and door ajar above the O'ride. All of mine actually work too! It was probably a pretty early change, when dealerships started complaining that the batteries kept dieing for no reason. It drove me nuts for the first month I had mine.

PRNDL, thank you so much! You got me the solution of my mystery! Weeks ago I let the wiper door open to check the blades. Then after two days I went back to my car and saw, that the battery was discharged.
Now I know why!

Best regards, Günther

I wish , I'm still trying to compile all the different info. I have notes all over my 68 diagram and it looks like there are going to be some more to add.

I show 3 bulb sockets along with the normal illumination sockets.
Seatbelt lamp- My diagram shows a normal dash illumination type socket with a single black wire coming from the socket going to the bulkhead connector-when you look for the wire coming out the other side of the bulkhead there is no wire-the wire goes nowhere It must be a mistake.

The socket labeled "headlamp door socket" , I've pretty much decided is actually the illumination bulb for the ignition switch. It has 2 wires gray and black and the gray is tied to the dash illumination bulbs.

The "door ajar" seems to be correct.

I have absolutely nothing for the O,Ride bulb.

I'm surprised that it's a black wire but I don't think it's a mistake on your diagram.
I'm shooting from the hip here but I believe that is the positive wire that feeds the seatbelt lamp. The ground I believe is supplied by the housing. The lamp should light once the key is turned and remain lit until the button below it is pushed.
That button I believe removes the ground be means of this set of contacts.

You can see better in this shot how the lamp socket mounts.

I believe the headlamp door indicator started in '69 so you are probably correct.

The
The override switch on the '68 switches the ground, now how that in turn illuminates the o'ride lamp I have no idea. I do intend to figure it out though.

Once I get some play money I'll be tearing back into the instrument bezel for the last time ( I hope ). I need to have the radio repaired along with the clock, that plus adjust the clip on my seatbelt lamp button and figure out why my ignition switch lamp doesn't light up.
