Seems my dash panel makes alot of noise when u hit bumps seems panels are hittting each other.how do your remove top dash thanks
Took mine out about a month ago. Going from memory, remove the windshield pillar trim. Three screws on the top of the driver side instrument panel and three more on the top of the passenger side. I'm pretty sure the center guage cluster is fastened as well. May need to remove the top center piece from the center gauge cluster to verify. There's a brace which runs from a point just to the right of center, under the pad, going to the birdcage. You will probably need to remove the passenger side panel to reach it... Also a few connectors which tie the speakers into your convector(s)... The front of the top pad has clips which grip the birdcage. Lift the pad and pull back... You may need to bow it slightly to clear the pillars but keep it to absolute minimum, don't want to crack the pad.
If your top dash pad has many years on it, you really don't want to attempt removing it unless you have to. It becomes brittle and any bending will crack it..sometimes severely. You would do best to remove the right side dash panel and have a look under there to see what is loose and shaking around. If you are getting "vinyl squeaks", it is likely that the attaching screws for those panels are getting loose (due to some wear in the screw holes) and allowing them to loosen up so they can rub adjacent surfaces. If this is the case, you can snug those holes up by removing the screws (and panels, wherever possible), plugging those holes with JB Weld stick epoxy (the kind you knead together), then redrilling correctly sized holes. That should solve your problem.
Everything is new... get major vinyl squeaks..is there a trick to remove squeaks seems parts are to tight to one another..Did the screw thing every thing is tight... Thanks Bobby
