First off thanks to the guys who helped with my electrical problem. Got it fixed
I have a '75 not numbers matching motor. It is a 350 with a T400 trans.
Problem is I just bought a new power steering pump because the one on the car was leaking around the shaft. When I took off the old pump washers hit the ground (about 5) from the bolts that mount to the block. I cant think chevy would do that but a retarted car owner maybe. So I pulled the pulley and installed it on the new pump, installed the new pump (without washers) and the pulley doesnt line up with any groove around the balancer pulley. Hince why someone put washers to line up the pulley, duh. The mounting brackets look the same as my book but cant figure out why so out of alignment.
In my hayes book it shows a power steering pump with a 2 groove pulley, but my pump only has a 1 groove pulley.
Which is correct? And do you have a pulley diagram to help route drive belts.
If it's anything like most other GM vehicles I have worked on, they have a single thick spacer on that bolt. I suspect that someone in the past had lost it and used washers in its place. Hope this helps.
The 1975-76 AIM only shows one power steering pump pulley used on all combinations of A/C Compressor, PS Pump, and AIR pumps. The pulley has only one groove and is GM #346289.

My '73 had the same problem. I discovered that the PS mounting bracket was bent. I replaced it with one from Zip and now it's fine. I suspect it was bent during a previous owner's crash on the front left.

I had the same problem. The bracket was bent. I did what John did, I replaced the bracket and it lined up perfectly.

Interesting info!
Does anybody have the specs for the mount bracket so I can see if mine is bent?
