When I do a search for cylinder head combos for my 76 vette, 6 trickflow packages pop up. Will these work? I dont always trust sites to match parts up, especially something like that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My engine knowledgs is severly lacking.
There are lots of companies offering upper end packages. The first question asked is can your lower end hold up?Next you need to decide how much work you want to put into your lower.
The first question to ask yourself is what are your plans? From there that should help determine what upkeep, power levels and acceptable running conditions you like.
Depends upon your budget. AFR is alleged to be the best, but the price is high. I am running TF 23* heads, 195 runners with 64cc chambers. I have been using these heads, for about 7-8 years, on my mildly modified 350 and on my 383.
I played mix and match on the other top end parts, so I cannot comment on the TF packages.
For me, the TF 23* heads seem to supply a lot of bang for the buck! My '76 is a 99.5% street car.
Im sure the AFR's are nice, but expensive. I probably wont do much more than the top end. It will be several years down the line until I will mess with the engine again. I dont wanna mess with matching stuff up myself, that is why I am looking at these packages.

That is kind of a dumb statement. AFR might have some of the highest CFM flow for their port CC, but on the bad side is lack of oil return, valve cover gaskets swimming in oil, oil over the valve stem seals causing blue smoke in a few thousand miles, incorrect plug placement that puts the spark plug into the headers.
Just a few of the things that they have known about for more than 10 years and they failed to correct these problems on their latest version of eliminator heads. It just tells me that they don't give a rats *** about us because they have people that say things like. AFR, all the way
I talked to CEO of AFR about these problems many years ago!
for price maybe consider vortecs, with little time on the flowbench you will be amazed at what they can do.
I agree, especially if you do not need an aluminum head, and S/R Torquer heads can flow very well with cleanup too. To take that one step further I would say a Brodix IK/RR 180 or 200 head would be good for the money. Fastburn heads are proven performers as well and can be had for cheap. Get a custom cam for your combo, and use a performer rpm if it will fit your hood, if it doesn't fit buy another hood (you'll need it for the big block build in the future anyway).

Yeah I love the heads but even the new Eliminators have the oil return problem. Brand new motor and never had it so is didn't leak a little. Thinking of trying JB weld on the valve covers the next time they're off

Sportsman II heads are often overlooked, they will support 500HP right out of the box and they won't break the bank
edelbrock rpm or e series is good ,, for the price
tf are good also but u shuld match lower end to perform well , more $$$ if your budget
is tight if i were u ,, go for vortec or edelbrock
