Has any one changed the Headlamp bushing on a '75 and are there any pitfulls I should take "on board" before taking a spanner to to this area
You mean the bearing assemblies that the headlight pivots on? It's bolted in as I recall, I changed mine a few years ago; you just need patience and small fingers.
Hi cp,
I believe this is the pivot bushing you're asking about. It's held in with 3bolts
There is a 'stop collar', that's set with an allen screw, that needs to be loosened so the headlight mechanism can be moved far enough for the bushing to be removed.
It's not a difficult job, just in a difficult location to get to.
Regards,
Alan
Yep! thats The bush I am looking to replace
Thanks for your comments
The "little Fingers" is a bit of a problem as I am endowed with pork sausages but perhaps the wife would like to slide under the car for me!!
I have ordered the bushes today from UK dealer hope to make an attempt when they arrive
Tape around the headlight bucket opening so you don't chip the paint on the car or the headlight, when the bushing is removed they move around pretty freely. Good luck. One of the bolts takes some real patients to get out, not much room.
