Re: What is your normal operating temperature on your Vette? (GrandSportC3)
Since I mostly drive in the summer, and usually at a good rate of speed, mine is around 195-210. I have a 195 thermostat but in the heat of summer with A/C on, the coolant can't quite keep up.

It's funny you should ask this. I was reading my owners manual and it says not to take action until the car gets to 250. By take action I mean, turn off the air or shift it in neutral and rev it. Normal operating temps are 190 to 210 in the manual.

Does anyone know what temps the marks on a 69s temp gauge represent. (the ones that are not numbered) Mine runs right about mark between 100 and 210 as long as i dont sit still too long. If i sit in traffic it goes up to around 230 where i "take action"
Re: What is your normal operating temperature on your Vette? (MARKUS_P)
I had to add a choice; "room temperature", since my vette isn't on the road quite yet. Aiming to have it ready by summer...
My vette won´t be ready until next year
Hey! Who you callin' stupid? I prefer "informationally challenged". :jester :D

Here in South Florida - most convertible drivers (not only Corvette) drive with the top up from April to October because it's too hot for them... I personally love the heat. That's one of the reasons I moved to South Florida... Better sweating than freezing :yesnod: :yesnod:

I never felt comfortable with temperatures above 200 degrees. I owned a late C4 (1995 Convertible). The car was running in summer between 210 and 230 degrees (where the fans turned on). I changed the thermostat to a Hypertech 160 degree thermostat and re-programmed the fans to come on at 195 degrees. That way the car was running between 180 - 195 degrees.
In my 68 I did almost everything possible to keep the car cool. Dual electric fans plus belt driven fan, high flow water pump, high flow 160 degree thermostat, steelflex radiator hoses, big block radiator (came on car because it was originally a big block car)
