I really wanted to go LS in my 69 NOM 454, but I've decided to stay with the carbed BB ($$, time). It's a VERY mild build (don't have details), runs ok, but my wife's WRX can crush it, as can my Diesel Silverado.
I'm looking for a ~450-500hp fun driver w/ a streetable idle, vacuum, and decent manners.
Does anyone have recent good or bad experiences with any Phoenix area engine/machine shops? I've read what I could find, but there were only a few posts scattered around.
This will be bolted to a (soon to be ordered) TKO-600 from Keisler...

Hmmm I went to school in Tempe, mid-seventies. I remember Rundle's in Mesa as a machine shop and parts store. It was off University at some cross street in Mesa close to Tempe. But that's been a long time ago. I bought speed parts from Rundle all the time but built my own motors.
Call Jake at 'Jake's Auto Repair' in Glendale. Tell him your situation and ask him for the recommendation(s). He doesn't do that work, but he's always working on one Corvette or another and he will know who to call.

Tell him Phil sent you.
I've known Ray and Jim for over 25 years. They've built several engines for me and alot of other machine work.
They even have a in house dyno to run your engine on prior to installing if you desire
