Default Side exhaust rant

Well I paid my money and waited. And waited and waited, 3 months, and was given 3 different "target dates" only to once again have my dreams of having side exhaust dashed again by beinng told by Josh at customimagecorvettes that the new target date is after the first of the year. What do I have to do? Where can I turn to find someone who wants to take my money and deliver me a product in a timely fashion. XS Power cannot seem to set a date and stick to it and I'm told Hooker is not making side exhaust anymore. HELP!

A lot of guys have had to wait for a very long time to get their side mounted exhaust. They usually wait for that long to get them. Good luck.

I have already canceled that order and would love to do business with someone else, but who? Who can live up to what they say.

Default Fast delivery

Ordered my sidepipes on Nov 11th & I already have the left side on. Corvette Central has excellent delivery & I got free shipping.
My 78 has the 671 Weiand Blower
How hard is it to put on you may ask... The pipes were a birthday gift to myself for my 70th Birthday

Well I guess you can't satisfy everyone.
Rocky, there was no need for this slanderous post, I have been nothing but up front and honest with you yet you feel the need to hang me for something that I have no control over.

I stated that I have no control over when the manufacturer has the product ready. It is out of my control. I did exactly what I said I would do. I took your money for a deposit, I put it in a holding account so it was safe. And I promptly refunded the whole amount no questions asked. I even ate the $26.00 paypal fee. I have been nothing but honest, and I gave updates as soon as I got them from the manufacturer. Sorry it has been a long wait. Again nothing I can do about it.

If you want to pay twice as much for a product that you will most likley have to dent in a few spots and have to cut your rockers to make it fit then be my guest.

For those that have placed orders and are tired of waiting, I will be more than happy to refund your deposit in full. NO QUESTIONS ASKED.

For those of you that are willing to wait for something better and half the price you know where to find me.

My rant was not ment to slander you Josh, and I would like everyone here to know that. It's more about my frustration. Promises were not made but dates were given and then not delivered on. You should be upset at XS Power not me. You have been honest and did return my money promptly and I thank you for that.

I can understand your frustration Blown 79. I also am in desparate need of these new big block stainless steel headers. I can't find anybody else making the big block stainless steel headers. Plus these big block ones are 2" primary's which I will need desparately at 7,000rpms which also will require them to be modified for the LS exhaust ports.

There is like a market void out there as they don't make stainless steel big block sidemount headers anymore. In other finishes, yes, but not in stainless steel.

I am sure Josh does not want to be in this position at all. This is the kind of stuff that can really hurt a business.

As you said...Josh has been honest with you as similarly he has been honest with me as well providing timely updates and alternative options during this crazy project he has taken on transforming Killer into Kaos. He has well over $30K of my monies tied up in this project. Ugghh!!! But has provided timely updates, alternatives, and thus far no ugly surprises. It is not easy spending these kind of monies on a project and trust me I want my car like yesterday as now is the driving season here in South Florida. All the car shows start in October as April thru September its too freakin HOT!!!

Trust me that all of us share your frustration as neither Josh nor I want the ugly hooker dull grey headers back on the car once project Kaos is done within the next 4 weeks. We need these new shinny stainless steel headers also as this project Kaos will not be complete without these stainless steel headers also!!!!

Thanks for being up front about that. I am upset with XS-POWER about this and they know that. I am not going to dwell on this though. They had a material allocation issue from their supplier and that was not their fault. There is always someone pointing a finger at someone else.
What I do know is that XS-POWER has come through before and provided us a quality product that got great reviews. When I started selling the side pipes they were so popular that they sold out way faster than the manufacturer ever expected. I had a ton of requests for them after they sold out and that is why I started the presale. I wanted to be able to have ample supply for everyone who wanted them. It was also a way to give the manufacturer an idea of how many sets to make. We worked together and made some great changes to the systems that will make them easier to install.

So all I can say at the moment is they are worth the wait if you have the time to wait!

If I might, I'll throw my two cents in.

Blown78's post was not slanderous in any manner at all. He simply stated the facts.

I suggest you read his post more carefully.

"XS Power cannot seem to set a date and stick to it"

Josh, as a reseller of their products you will take some heat when they cannot deliver as promised. That just goes with the reselling turf.

Don't get mad at Blown7, or any others here that may complain about the poor service from XS-power, but rather get mad at them yourself.

If XS-power cannot deliver product to a you as a reseller in a timely manner, they shouldn't get your business since they are damaging your business.

Back when Tomz Wheels (who I bought from) was still doing business, he dropped Coy's for this exact same reason (failure to deliver in a timely manner).

Why would he do that? Coy's failure to deliver was damaging his business.

Good product or not, if you take months to deliver, you are not doing good business.

Make sense?

Perhaps I can shed a little light...
Most manufacturers either make a product 24/7 ,like say toothpaste, and run production constantly as they have a constant demand, or they have a "backorder" and then they make a limited production run. Obviously stainless steel Corvette sidepipes are not a huge seller. Production runs are going to be spotty at best, unless an investor or manufacturer wants to invest in the end product and sell them one at a time. Then, how easy is it going to be getting some four inch, correct thickness show quality stainless steel pipe. Does the manufacturer have to buy $100,000 worth or material ? Does he have to wait for his supplier to make a batch of special pipe? The things we take for granted usually have a long history behind them before they end up in the back of a UPS truck. Obviously, we haven't even touched on employees vacations, or any other possible reasons for delay...

You have no idea "how it is" Fact of the matter is that XS-POWER never set a date. It was always stated that it would be "around" a certain time. And updates were always given as they became available.

This was a custom made product and it takes an undetermined amount of time to get all of the jigs made and secure the materials and the labor.

Custom Image deals with alot of custom made parts and this stuff is not cut and dry like the toothpaste example below. Thanks for posting centralcalvette

I ordered a set of side pipes from Josh a while back when he posted that he had them in stock. I received them in short order and was very satisfied with the service and the product.

All is good. I received my Hookers 2 weeks after ordering them from Summit and they are AWESOME. Just my bad luck on the others.
