The universal joints on the half-shafts are hitting themselves at full droop. I think the problem is that the KYB GR-2 shocks are too long.
The half-shafts are stock. I can't remember if it's the inner or outer, but it's both sides. Everything is stock, no rear bar currently.
Anyone else seen this?
The suspension is also drooping so low that it's making the aftermarket sway bar impossible to mount without compressing the suspension a lot. I fear it would put massive pressure on that plate (that comes with the aftermarket bar) that is mounted to the end of the TA.
I just measured the max droop on the front and rear, from fender brim to wheel center and I got 19.5" in front and ~ 19.75" in rear. Seems like it must be normal.
Just suspose,you are driving a bit spirited,and go over a wop-de-do in the road and you go air borne a bit with all wheels spinning,the rears will drop to bind with wheels spinning at a high speed,disaster. John

Correct, and in fact AS I RECALL the SPICER joints don't bind....
the common strong Brute Force joints DO.....like I said, as I recall....been a while....
I just live with the bind, it can be removed by some clearancing/grinding....

When I bought my C2 in 1976.... this was one of the first things I learned about these cars. It had a completely stock rear suspension... shocks, U-Joints, half-shafts and worn out (flattened) original steel spring. I was trying to diagnose a problem, and I put the car up on jack-stands and spun the rear tires. The car shook like a wooden roller-coaster and both rear wheels were flopping up & down. I took me a while, but I eventually figured out it was the U-Joints binding at "full droop". Haven't done that since... with any Corvette I have worked on. But.... yeh... I guess shorter shocks would do the trick.... keep it from drooping all the way.
