That Lunati would do well but I'd consider putting it on a 108 LSA to help those heads. It's not big enough to be too ratty on the street with a tight LSA. It's relatively small overall.

Do Lunati offer the option of changing the LSA I dont see it on the website. I think Jims idea of the 108 LSA would help. I'll also see if some divider can go back in.

If you call Lunati and talk to them you can get it ground with a 108 lsa.

I have a buddy that has a complete mushroom cam setup for a BBC brand new sitting in his attic that he bought back in the late 70's. He bought two setups and built a killer 454 with it and did very well in the sneaky street race world in Kansas City area. He still has the other one sitting there. I'm trying to get my hands on it. I think it would be cool in my old 427!

Can you post a pic of the cutter tool that you have?

I just got my 75 back on the road this past weekend with a 060 over 427 running a comp magnum 11-218-4 (236/236 @ .050 .561/.561 110 lsa) and comps edm solid lifters, old 840 square port heads with stock valve sizes no porting. ~10.2 static compression. With a 373 gear it gets sideways if I roll into the throttle in 1st / 2nd.. idles just a bit lumpy.. have yet to rev it past 5k ~ 11in of vacuum at 800 rpm. Overall I'm happy with the way it behaved on the street over the weekend. I'm no expert ... just relaying my experience...

EDM lifters or direct lube, then their are also lifters that have a groove cut along the body to dump oil onto the lobe as well, but the EDM seems like a better way.
Actually the grove is in the lifter bore.

This is the best pic I could find. The small hole in the face of the lifter allows oil to travel through the lifter to improve lubrication between it and the cam lobe.

IMHO old school will always be
While taking care of a couple other small projects over the Holiday I'll try to find that thing and post a pic of it.

update - Haven't been able to lay my hands on it yet, which has me somewhat perplexed, but the search did turn up a few spare mushroom lifters. The tool consists of a shaft, lifter bore guide and cutter which slots onto the shaft from below. Attached to a 1/2 HP dril and generously lubed, all 16 bores can be clearanced in an hour or so, deburring not included.

thanks guys.....back in the day isky "chilled iron" lifters were rockwell tested with a hole like that, i wonder if ir evolved into an oiler??
as an aside, why do solid lifters cost more now than hydraulics??....i remember in the early 60's solids were 18.95 a set and crane anti pump up hydraulics were 39.99 when i sold them at jegs.....
