Default Steering problem

I was driving the vette to pick up some pies Thanksgiving morning and suddenly heard a strange noise on the right front and then almost immediately felt the front end pop and the car pulled hard to the right. I slowly drove the car home but it obivously was not right. After getting home, I turned the wheel all the way to one side and the tire appeared to be leaning in. I have a friend that owns a tire and front end shop but it is closed for Thanksgiving weekend and he is out of town. Does this sound familar to anyone.

Thanks,
Bill

Sounds like you broke a ball joint or a tie rod knuckle.

Would it be ok to drive to the shop (10 miles) or should I have it towed?

Nope, sorry. I've never used my Corvette to fetch pies for Thanksgiving, but I do know somebody that owns a tire shop. More of an acquaintance than a friend though.

Pretty hard to even guess what's wrong based on the vague description and no one in their right mind would say that it's safe to drive.

Have you at least jacked up the car to look underneath?

What kind of pies did you get?

You drove your vette on Thanksgiving morning? I'm jealous! I had to fire up the snowblower to clear the driveway for my trip to the store. Minnesnowta, gotta love it!

I will have the car towed, if not for my saftey but for everyone elses saftey. I bought 2 pecan pies from Cracker Barrell and yes they were great. As for the weather, even in North West Florida, winters are usually mild. I think it was around 75 degrees on Thanksgiving day but suppose to cool down tonight. Thanks everyone for the responses.
