Default 81 - Blower Switch

Hello all

As I continue to get the 81 working and on the road, I have been spending time getting all the little things working (door locks, Vanity mirror lights, Heater/AC blower etc)

The Heater/AC Blower motor does not work at any speed on any setting. I checked the fuze and while one side was quite corroded, it seemed ok -- I changed it with a new one.

Using the schematic below, I checked the brown wire on the blower resistors and get NO voltage. I am worried there is a problem with the fuze block or a broken wire.

The schematic says that there brown wire goes to C100 -- Can anyone tell me where that is so I can check voltage at that connector?

Any other ideas?

The brown wire goes to the fuse block...

I would verify the fuse is good.... then i would verify the fuse is making good contact in the fuse panel. I've seen tons of fuses that were good not work because the terminal was corroded and the fuse was not making good contact. If you have power at the fuse panel then move on to the inside of the console.

On this system the power runs from the brown wire to the ac switch.. then from the ac switch it runs to the blower speed control switch on the yellow wire. Start looking for power on these two wires.

Once the power hits the blower control switch it leave on the color indicated below and determined by position of the switch. The power then hits the resistor, relay and then blower motor.

Hope this helps and I hope it is something simple.

The brown wire supplies voltage thru the resistor all the time the key is on thru the blower relay, as above, verify voltage at both ends of the fuse, then at the brown wire on the resistor. Check the ground wire on the blower, it should be connected to a stud on the fire wall with a couple other black wires.

Thanks Six footer -- I am not getting power at the resistor. It is very hard to get to the fuze block, I think that is where the problem is, because when I took the original fuze off it had a lot of corrosion on one side of the fuze. I have been able to stick a probe in one end of the fuze block and sow 12v.
Any suggestions how I get to the fuze block and make the checks/repairs?

You can remove the forward lamp and ignition harness, then remove the screws from the main block and it will come off. When you do this you won't have a ton of room but it will allow you to get in there..

Since no one posted a p/w schematic for you, today I scanned this for you.

Hope this helps.
