Quick question -- I purchased a new storage compartment frame as well as the three frames for each of the storage compartment doors. I took the old storage comparment frame out and can't figure out how to get the hinges off to transfer over to the new one. There are metal rivits holding it in place. I'm hoping i don't need a special tool to do this.
Hi Paul,
+.... when you re-attach the hinges you need to be careful what kind of fastener you use. If the head is any thicker than the rivets you now see, the hinge won't close properly to let the latch on the doors catch.
Also, the hinge needs to be attached very tight against the frame or else the hinge and fastener really stress the plastic frame and crack it on each end of the three hinges when you open and close the doors.
Good Luck.
Regards,
Alan

I used some pan head socket screws to reattach my hinges. There's very little room between hinge halves when the doors are closed.
Thanks guys. This was supposed to be the easy part of re-doing the interior. Seems there's always little things that come up that you weren't anticipating.
I bought seven acres of undeveloped land in 2020 and knew I was going to have a Corvette since one has been sitting in the garages of homes we’ve owned for decades. My solution was a 30x30 detached garage across the driveway from my attached garage. It’s an aluminum building that actually matches our house and It cost less than my builder adding a third garage bay. Use your five acres!

Just changed mine and had the same delimma. Mid America Motorworks sells the kit to change that out. Just grind the old rivets off or you can drill them out. Then replace with new rivets. Not easy to get them right. Good luck.
