Default Lead to Slaughter?

Some of you may recall I posted the results of my last outing at the track about a month ago. I had a 3 race series with a 5.0 Procharger supercharged/intercooled Mustang LX and won 2 of 3. Well, since then he has put some new heads AND a new cam in it and he wants me some kind of bad. I was at T&T last nite (spectating) and he ran a 7.17 @100 mph in the 1/8th with wheelspin off the line. My best is a 7.30 (@91mph) and my best mph is 95 on a 7.35 pass. I think I have a 7-teen in the car if all conditions are just right. Of course I can't back down from this challenge so when we race I'll let you all know what the results are. We should get together before the end of April. Stay tuned.

Do you have a stock rear-end in there? Have you had any problems with it yet? That sixty-foot on NO2 is really nice, have you started to lift one of the front wheelsoff the line yet?

I've just been getting worried about the rear-end lately in my Vette. I'm scared I'm about to start breaking stuff.
Thanks,
Jay

Okee Dokee...

While waiting for the outcome... I'll keep an eye on my Rustang & my Vette to make sure they aren't placing any illegal bets.

Is he running a 302, a 306, or a 347?

Time for some serious tweakin' :smash:
Do you get enough traction to use a Trans-Brake in your 700R4? Maybe that would help your 60' enough to do the trick!?
With a little luck, he may psych himself out when he is lined up against you.
Never let 'em see ya sweat! :D

Good luck.

Good luck, and go get him!! :smash: :smash:

If he beats you, get more mods, maybe a nitrous specific cam (more exhaust duration).

Sounds like both cars are pretty fast! Fore you to be running against someone with forced induction is very commendable :D . I'd be a bit embarassed if I had to challege someone running off the motor if I had a turbo/ supercharger feeding my motor  .

I agree with Mike. Seems like he's got a pretty big advantage on you and the fact that you can compete with him is outstanding in itself.

I think it's time for some tweakin'. Good luck and keep us updated .

I've done all I'm gonna do to my 'Vette as far as engine mods. I'm pretty proud it runs like it does with a small cam and a Q-Jet. All I do now is try to tune for better performance. Primarily because I'm preparing to start a new (faster) project.

As for the matchup being unfair, on the motor I can only do low 8's (8.092 best). To race the 6- ninety/7 second cars I have to resort to chemical enhancement (N20)!!!

I do have a stock style rear end and I have broken a spindle before but I think it was bad from the git.

And finally, I won't be able to rattle this guy, he's been racing far longer than I have. As far as I know he has a 302. He says it's a stock bottom end with over a 100k miles on it. I do know it's pretty vicious on the top end!

You've done so well at squeezing ALL of the potential out of this one that I'm sure your next project will be quite successful. Care to provide some ideas regarding your "(faster) project"?

Both streetable and driven regularly. That's the plan anyway.
