Why is that when I pullout the headlight switch the lights will come on but the doors won't open? In turn, I can pull the little know under the dash and they will open.
Since your system is functioning when you pull down the manual override "pull-down" switch, I suspect the vacuum hose connections on your headlight switch are reversed. Not uncommon. In fact, this hose connection as shown in the diagram on "corvette-101.com" is incorrect. It is also incorrect as shown in the Assembly Information Manual (AIM) for my '78, and I have read that it is also incorrect in at least one other year's AIM.
For correct vacuum hose connections at the headlight switch, the blue-striped line between the headlight switch and the manual override switch "pull down" switch must be connected to the front (firewall side) port and the non-striped line from the check valve must be connected to the rear port.
Please post an update on whether this fixes you problem.
Jim, I was always afraid I would get off somewhere and they would stop coming up at all. I don't mind it like it is but when I let my girlfriend drive at night she can never get them turned off...lol
Try pulling the headlight switch out very slowly and see if they will come up,if they do the 2 hoses are probably switched.
When the switch is out do you hear hissing ?
