Default ?? about interior lights switches

My interior lights have been staying on. I check the switch on the drives side - it suppose to have exposed wires.. when I pulled out the switch the wires bumped some metal and sparks flew.. is this the way its suppose to be.

I adjust the switch and not its not so tight - fixed the problem - but the sparks and exposed wire kinda not sets easy with me.

thoughts -

thanks
Mark

You didn't say what year the car was..

But the wires on the switch are the ground wires for the circuit and not power. When the made ground, the sparked because the door was open and this completed the circuit.

Don't worry about it, you'll be fine.

Well those wires where the beginning of my electrical issues and blown fuses. As a precaution i did tape them up to prevent them from coming loose and them touching each other or something else they where not supposee to like kick panel speaker housings. I also changed the over from the pin type contact to spades

You should always disconnect the battery when doing any electrical work....
