I have a 72 that has all 6 new U-Joints, wheels have been ballanced and it stil has a very uncomfortable vibration at 55 and up speeds, when I let of the gas the vibration is minimal or none at all. Any advise for me in curing this issue. Thanks

Make sure the camber alignment is not too negative.
These things should be checked whenever the diff or trans is removed.
Shims can be used. I made a adjustable rear trans mount when I put in my T-5 5 speed and adjusted it to match the angle of the diff.
Look here http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...be-angled.html Or do a search on "drive train alignment"
auto or 4 speed? is this a problem that is new with the joints? any other work done on the rear suspension? were the spring bolts reinstalled to the original length? if it's an auto, when the car coasts most of the stress is off the driveline and engine rpm drops. if is a 4 speed the engine rpm's remain the same(of course), and vibration could be engine related. if the vibration has developed since the u joints were installed, look there. check the angle of the half shafts. they should be only slightly angled upward going from the wheel to the diffy. much is said about the propeller shaft angle, but the half shafts are much shorter, and therfore the angles are more critical. you may want to install longer spring bolts to reduce the half shaft angle.
often when this happens after new joints are installed, the culprit is the rear bushing or worn yoke at the trans. tailshaft
check for slop at the yoke.....good luck....
