POSI_TRAC ADDITIVE
i have rebuilt my rearend and is now sitting empty in my garage. should i leave it empty or should i add the additive? what is the purpose behind the additive and can anyadditive be used? or is gms the best?

I tried running with the additive and my rearend made grinding noises going around tight corners. After installing the GM posi fluid the rear end stopped making those weird noises. For a cost of $7.CDN why not add the genuine GM stuff. It works to keep those posi units quiet. Add it before topping the rearend up with the rest of the oil.

While I can't tell you the engineering reason why a posi rear end needs the special additive, it is essential for the clutch pack to properly operate. More than a few members of this board had solved problems with noise, grinding, etc, just by changing the fluid and adding the GM brand of additive.
