Default Fuel Pump Plug Tool

Trying to install Fuel Pump on new 454 crate motor.

I can not remove the Fuel Pump Plug (used to insert Push Rod).

It is has a recessed SQUARE socket which appears to be 5/16"

I tried a 1/4 and 3/8 rachet extention; but it appears to be in between.

Went to 2 auto part stores no luck.

Any ideas? where I can get a tool?

If I get desparate I may try grinding down a 1/2 to 3/8 drive adapter

Tool trucks will have the 5/16 square or you may be able to get a piece of 5/16 key stock from your local hardware or parts store and use it and a wrench to remove the plug.

Depending on how much of the plug is showing outside the block you could try vice grips. I have also pulled some out using a screwdriver and a hammer.

Thanks for the help.

I found a "Drain Plug Socket Set" at Harbor Freight that has a 5/16 Square.

I am off to buy it now.
