I agree Summit is the only people I use now. I only order from jegs and do not plan on ordering from them unless they are the only one with the part.
The people at summit are nice and very willing to help you out.
Had horrible customer service experience with Jeg's and a fantastic experience with Summit so I stick with Summit. But I would buy from elsewhere if the price made it worth while, just not Jeg's.
They're both the same to me. When im ordering multiple items I go with the one that has everything in stock. This way I avoid double shipping charges. I think the 3701 is a high rise intake. Will hood clearence be a factor. Another choice would be the the EDL 2101. It has nearly exact dimentions of the stock intake.
I have ordered from both, and since price is so close, I order from the one who has it in stock. Also, I found Summit to ship faster. I ordered on a Thursday afternoon, and received it Sarturday morning! Gott-a love it!!
I live in San Diego and Summit has a warehouse in Reno, Nevada. I ordered a Demon 850 carb on a Monday am around 9:00am and received it on Tuesday at 4:50pm at my house.....
Jegs took 6 business days from Ohio to my house to deliver an intake manifold....
ZD75blue, what are you other engine mods planned. Did the 75 come with cowl induction? If so are you gonna still use it? The reason I ask is, if used with q-jet, the 2101 will fit perfect for hood seal height and stock hood with no mods to the cleaner and hood seal. The 2101 is good to 5500rpm. Beyond that I suppose the high rise is better. If you can run functional cowl induction with yur 75, you can retain the performance inhancment it was designed for. I swicthed to a Holley carb with my 2101 and had to do some other mods to the cleaner setup to make it fully functional. Im not sure how it would be done to use the high rise manifold with a stock hood and cowl induction.
Anyone out there have a 3701 with stock hood and fully functional cowl hood seal? I guess that wouls be years 73 thru 76?
Jegs has free shipping and I've never had a problem with them. I ordered some heavy stuff and it made it here in 4 days. I though that was pretty good.
I've had nothing but good luck with jegs. Never used summit though, I've found their prices to be on the high side comparitively.
I ordered about $1000 worth of stuff by fax from Summit, and it came totally scewed up.
I faxed them back explaining the errors with a copy of my original order. So they sent the whole package again, screwed up again.
They claimed it was my fault for sending a copy of the order again! It took me several weeks and $100 of shipping costs to get it straight.
Since then I have been a Jeggs customer. :mad
I ordered headers and bushing kit from Jegs (free shipping), the bushings were back ordered, the headers are scheduled to arrive today! The Energy Suspension bushings I could not find anywhere, so I ordered a set of Prothane bushings from Mac's Spring (great price!)
Good Luck
I only use Summit unless they don't have the part. In regards to the part #, 3701 is the correct one. It is identical to the 2101 except the 2101 does not have EGR. We just put a 3701 on a 1980 and it fit under the hood. And, I think the 1980 hood is lower than yours. We did have to bend a few lines because the carb sits a little forward on the Edelbrock. Also, the 3701 not only comes with the EGR port, it also comes with the open port that is used for the heat activated manual chokes. However, it does come with the block-off plate if you don't want to use the choke hole. Anyway, one of the intake bolts sits in between those two ports and IT IS A BEAR TIGHTEN DOWN. We actually had scrape some of the aluminum off around the bolt so that we could get a closed end wrench on it. Good Luck.
I've never ordered from Jegs. Summit has an Ohio location that gets most things to me the next day if I order early enough. I'd be hardpressed to try Jegs since Summit has come though for me so many times.
I am about to do the same intake on my 75 but with a comp cam XE256 and comp. rebuild, I plan on using Jegs because of the price, never ordered from them before, let me know if you have problems!!
I just missed a polished int. on e-bay, it went for $42.00
