Default Unexplainable HEAT

I installed a car stereo yesterday. I removed the gauges and the passenger side dash. I even loosened the shifter console plate, but it wasn't necessary. I was very proud of the fact that I put everything back together better than it was the last time someone replaced the stereo. Yes, there were drywall screws in the dash.:smash:

Anyway, I drove the car quite a bit yesterday after the dash surgery. It was about 55-60 degrees. No warm feet issues.

Today (in the low 70's) I took out the car and it felt like the heat was running. My question is, could I have done anything behind the dash to effect the cable that controls the heater core? I really don't think I did anything wrong.

I've used the heater quite a bit, and it has always worked the way it is supposed to--on when I want it, off when I don't.

Are all possible adjustments behind the dash? Any ideas?

Jay

...maybe a heater cable is stuck on something ?

Dunno - but sounds like my big block which runs hot anyways.

You could have knocked a vacuum hose of the diaphragm I suppose.

Jay,

This doesn't have anything to do with the stereo replacement but you may want to give this a thought. When I replaced the rubber seal around the underside of the hood, there was a reduction in the amount of heat getting blown into the interior. :yesnod:
