Default What's this wire??

I was replacing a broken headlight door override valve on the 69 Vette this morning, and as I was doing so I noticed a disconnected 12 gauge(?) brown wire under the dash (see below). I tested it, and it has no power when the ignition is in the "off" position, but it DOES have power when the ignition switch is in the "accessories" and "on" positions.

I'm not very good at reading the factory wiring diagrams, but found several 12 gauge brown wires, but can't figure out where they go. Can anyone comment?

Thanks
Ed

i believe that's a power lead for a/c. it connects to the heater control. however, there is also a brown wire that attaches to a noise reduction capacitor on the steering column very near the ignition switch(not the lock cylinder). trace it back and see where is originates.

Jeff, I think you're right about the capacitor. The wire's not long enough to go to the heater control, but it IS long enough to get to the steering column. It actually goes into a wrapped harness and then up to the dash. I can't see where it originates since I can't get my head up in there, but my radio is aftermarket and I would imagine that wire was diconnected when they installed it.

I can only speak for a 74 but it sure looks like the wire going to the capacitor
