I bought my first 71 Stingray this past summer and I hope to have the original # match engine rebult this spring. Does anyone know of a reliable engine shop in the Raleigh, NC area or within reasonable travel distance that could do the complete rebuild?
Hi df,
I suggest you go to the NCRS website and look at the list of chapters.
One of them is the 'Carolinas Chapter'. There'll be a phone number or e-mail address for a contact person. If you call him and explain what you're doing he may be able to make a suggestion for a shop, or give you the contact information for someone who can help you find the right shop.
1971 .... NICE!
Regards,
Alan

ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY make sure the engine rebuilder knows the importance of the numbers on the stamp pad. If the engine block is decked and you loose those numbers you just took a $5000 hit in resale value. Many horror stories out there, I don't want yours to be one of them. Reason: added link about decking
I would put it in writing and have the machine shop owner sign-it.
