Starting in winter storage
Tonite I had the first chance to start my '77 after 3 weeks in winter storage. My car usually starts hard after just 2 or 3 days of inactivity.
Following a tip I read about here on the forum I poured about 2 oz. ( 2 shots ) of fuel into the Quadrajet. I pumped the pedal twice and hit the starter. The engine turned over for about a half second and sprang to life, I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. It was just like it had been run that day!

BP. When you say "starts hard" do you mean that it turns over at normal cranking speed but just does not fire? My Q-Jet seems to "go dry" after a couple days. A good source for remidies for this problem can be found from Lars at v8fastcars.net . Ask for his Q-Jet tuning papers. mike...

It cranks normal but I need to crank it for 10 secs. or so then pump it and hit the starter again and it usually starts on the second or third try.
Yes it seems to go dry, thats why I gave it the 2 oz. of fuel. I'm told that there may be seals in the bottom of the carb that let the fuel leak out after a certain length of time. I just spent a lot of time getting the carb dialed in I don't want to touch it at this time because I usually don't let the car sit that long. I will use the same method when I start
the car in storage, but don't anticipate any problems come spring. Mike thanks for the tip on Lars papers, I have already read them , good read, did you fix your dry problem?
