Starting in winter storage
Tonite I had the first chance to start my '77 after 3 weeks in winter storage. My car usually starts hard after just 2 or 3 days of inactivity.
Following a tip I read about here on the forum I poured about 2 oz. ( 2 shots ) of fuel into the Quadrajet. I pumped the pedal twice and hit the starter. The engine turned over for about a half second and sprang to life, I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. It was just like it had been run that day!
Thats a good tip but but mine sits for several weeks all the time without being started and I personally like it cranking for those several seconds while it pumps gas from the fuel pump up to the carb it is also circulating oil internally inside the engine so everything gets relubricated. Just my $.02

Engines don't need to be 'relubricated'. There's just as much oil clinging to surfaces years after shutdown as there is hours after shutdown.
i like to start my cars up during the winter every 2-3 weeks (when the weather cooperates)
i don't know how it could do any harm exactly. i do think it is a good idea to run it long enough to get to operating temp, which is what i do.....Rick

The reason I started it was to verify the battery and that it would actually start, as it hasn't sat that long since I owned it. My storage situation is unique and timing is everything. We went for a real ride, about 25 minutes this morning!
