Re: '70 Big Block--Need some quick buying decision HELP--- (micks69)
Tell the guy you'll think about it and you have 2 other cars to look at first. Really play 'hardball' - if he sells it to someone else, then there's a better deal around the corner
JB, I was reffering to verskel's quote
Sorry, Mick--I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions. :)
I want to thank you gentlemen for all of the imput. I'm passing on this one--tomorrow I'm driving up to Houston to look at two '69 big blocks, a coupe in what's described as excellent shape for $14,700 and a vert for $12,000. The vert is tempting because I know what a '69 BB vert can be worth, but it's not running, not numbers matching, and has some rust on the windsheild frame.
Re: '70 Big Block--Need some quick buying decision HELP--- (micks69)
Hey Mick, just to clarify things - that 'not' jerking him around....
He should be looking at several cars. It's just good business sense. You have a buyer & a seller and there should be some negotiating going on. The seller depends on the buyer.... Since our friend here is a 'buyer' he holds the cards and should negotiate if he's interested. That's all... :)
It's done everyday. I've been 'jerked' around more times by people saying they'll 'pay' when they don't & I'm not giving this advice..... it's a proper assumption that he'll have the money or means to buy the car. :chevy And btw - in Florida there's a lot of C3's and thus for that area I think that car is 'overpriced'....
Re: '70 Big Block--Need some quick buying decision HELP--- (verskel)
I live in Ohio and for some reason we have a lot of Corvette and muscle car dealers around here i.e Proteam/ Northwest/ Cars 2 nv etc.. and I have physically been to most of them. The premium BB cars (In really good complete, get in and drive condition) are going for $35-45k every thing else i've seen are IMHO worn-old-beat cars that havent been maintaned with some major flaw like rusted (totally) bird cages with black tar smeared on them or painted some crappy color, these are going for 19-28k. If there are these 14k BB out there that dont need $20000 and 2 years in restoration to make them look and run decent with good mechanical's and interiors that are not trashed I'd like to see one not 2 or 3 but just one. The prices on steal bumper cars, especially the BB's have skyrocketed in the past 3-4 years. I went to see a 72 454 so called survivor car sitting under a tree next to a so called vette restorers shop. It supposedly had 18,000 original miles and the guy was asking 24k firm. When I made him an offer of 22k he said no thanks the longer it sits here the more its worth.

Sorry, that one's been gone for weeks--I called him right after the ad came out, and it was already gone. If it hadn't been, it'd be sitting in my garage at this very moment, I suspect.
