Default Fuel Pump

Looking to put a fuel pump on my 1978 Pace Car but I am confused by what some of the makers call a Vapor Return Line. Does the 1978 have one???
Thanks Jackie

I believe your car does. If you have three connections on the pump then you do. One would be fuel from the tank, fuel to the carb, and a fuel return line to the tank. If you only have two connections, then no, you don't have a vapor return line.

The third connection on the '78 fuel pump actually a 1/4" line for return of liquid fuel to the tank. Internally to the fuel pump is an orifice of .058" which sends a small amount of the pump's output back to the tank. This feature helps keep the fuel moving to prevent it getting too hot in the feed line, and therefore, preventing vapor lock. It also helps keep the carb from flooding after shut down by bleeding off residual fuel pump diaphragm pressure.
