When I installed my new hooker super flows in my side pipes the passenger side has a chirping sound. I did not have this problem with the reverse flows. I removed it, cleaned some slag out of it, made sure they were round and fit nice and I still have it.
Any one ever have this problem? Thanks, Steve
Racers love this sound but nobody actually seems to know what causes it. It seems to have something to do with cam profiles, particularly the exhaust valve closing, but it's tough to replicate.
My buddy said the same thing about drag cars but did not say what he thought caused it. It is a very rough idle, flat tappet solid cam, copied the build from one of Hot Rods 383 builds but is a 406. I can't remember cam profile and am out of town now, but is a comp cams grind.
It is not an exaust leak, putting my hand over the end of the pipe stops it. I will probably swap inserts from side to side when I get home and see if it follows. Thinking I will go back to my glass pack(not reverse flows like I earlier mentioned) except when racing as these things are really loud and not sure I like the tone either. I will say performance wise though it is like whole different car with the super flows.
Thanks for all the in put

I know this is a very old thread... however, did you ever figure out the issue? I have nearly the identical issue where it chirps until I put my hand in the way of the pipe. Amy insights would be appreciated.
