All of the above.

Sounds like you need new bushings, slides, tensioners.

How well does the glass go up and down? Fast? Slow?

Most of the parts venders have rebuild kits for door glass. You'll need to take everything apart.

If you have small hands, you'll be thankful.

No small hands here thats why I didn't get it done last time. Had to stop the bleeding cut my hands up. windows go up fast. No easy way right. what an engineering disaster.
Oh well something else I'll have to contract out.
But to answer your question they go up and down fairly well its just the in and out movement.

You'll need to remove the door panels to investigate.
Could be loose window track (easy fix).
Could be worn or loose felt slides at the top of the door (easy fix).
Could be worn nylon rollers (not easy, but definately a DIY fix)

The big thing is if your window goes up and down easy and smoothly and seals to the car well when closed, then make sure you mark all the track bolts before you remove anything from the door so you know where to reinstall everything for proper adjustment.

You can probably rebuild everything for $100 in parts and a couple nights in the garage.

I have a had my problems with windows and rattles - one my my rattles turned out to be the Metal arm that goes from the door handle to the latch. There is suppose to be a rubber gasket - anti rattle - well... mine was missing.

I ended up doing new rollers on the windows and new window regulators - but I highly recommend getting American made regulator ones - the foreign rollers on the regulators were 1mm too big and thus did not fit my tracks -
