Going to install header sidepipes on the 75. Back in the day I had hookers with there mufflers. What is the best set up now. I see these spiral exhausts?
I have the stainless Hooker setup and STS spiral baffles with Steelshields heat shields. Love the sound, don't ever have to worry about rust, they look great. Best part with baffles is you can drill out the center cap or replug to adjust flow and sound level. Not the cheapest route, but money well spent IMHO.
Puckboy - I have ceramic coated Hookers with STS baffles. The STS baffles are the bomb! Loud and proud. No shields, just a scar that helps me remember there are no shields.
Thanks Everybody for your input. Having has chrome pipes before ( rust) you have made up my mind to go with stainless. I also think now the STS baffles are the way to go. My old chrome pipes rusted were the muffler inserts were.
Dare to be different. Stahl headers and sidepipes. The collector is in the fenderwell area so all you see is a long tube. These also MAKE horsepower. Look at all the 90* bends on the Hookers that choke the exhaust. If your motor is stock, go for the Hooks, if the mill is modded, check out the Stahl's.
BTW, heat shields are for Kenworths. Wear your left leg scar with pride
Just thinking out loud......the which inserts discussion comes up all the time. It's a given at this point that uncapped STS baffles offer the least power loss. Wouldn't it be nice to have some "real" numbers on the difference between the STSs, Sweet Thunder 2.75" and the Hooker Max Flows? I wonder how much of a horsepower penalty the other 2 impose?
BTW, I bought mine used right here on the forum and spent more on the Jet Hot coating than the headers themselves (I bought the 4" x 4' tubes with turnout from a local truck repair shop and use a Dynatech cone as a muffler).

Wow... $1200 that's to much for my wifes budget LOL I can see me right now telling her i'm ordering a set of $1200 headers... I wouldn't even get to sleep with the dog out side...
