Default Intake Removal Question

Is there any reason to remove the carb and intake separately? It seems like it would be easier and quicker to remove the intake with the carb still attached.

you don't have to,but the carb may get in the way of intakebolts. it's only four bolts and a two dollar gasket to remove..

Another reason to separate (could be done after removal as a unit) would be when you go to reinstall. An intake by itself would be lighter and easier to position onto the gaskets.

I just R & R my intake with the carb on it last weekend. The carb does not add much weight but it is a little harder to get the manifold torqued properly with the carb on unless you have the proper tools.

Another tip is to remove your distributor cap and rotate the rotor until it's lined up with the firewall. Put a piece of tape on firewall with a line across from the rotor. This makes it alot easier to reinstall the distributor and have it lined up properly than guessing if its pointing to cylinder #1 which is a common method
