Default 1980 Door Panel Lock ***** - FYI

As I was getting ready to take off the door panel to get at my door latch, I got stuck on getting the Lock **** off. I scoured the forum for a few hours over two nights and all I threads said there was a kind of c clamp on the end of the Lock ****. Well, I got out the flash light and went to town and for the life of me could not see any kind of clamp. After more reading and finding similar answers I decided to break the bottom section of the Lock **** since I need to replace it anyway (all the chrome finish was rubbing off). So I started to break the end of it a bit by bit until I got movement and Lo and Behold!! The freakin' Lock **** screws off lol!!! I'm a moron and don't know how I missed that. In fairness I couldn't find any threads suggesting that it might screw off but I definitely should've thought of that myself. Oh well. To recap, on my 1980 L-82, the door Lock ***** SCREW off . There is no c-clamp. This may apply to 78-82 or 80-82 but I do not know. I'm going to go hang my head in shame for a while until I get a new Lock ****.

What your doors lock? J/k thanks for the FYI I am about to start redoing everything in my doors as I am working on getting replacement panels and arm rests. So I figured might as well replace all the other stuff inside that doesn't work right anyway while I am at it.

The 68-77 door lock ***** use "C" clips. The 78-82 ***** in the arm rest, screw on, as you found out.

That's one of the problems with posts where people leave the years out, or just use the dreaded "C"s (C1, C2, C3, etc.).

Mental note taken...."Lock **** screws off"
Your project may have started with frustration but you saved someone the same trouble by posting this information.
I appreciate that.
Good luck with the rest of your project.
