I will be pulling my heads shortly in order to drill out a dreaded "easy" out. (why do they call them easy?) I would like to know what gaskets to replace besides the head gaskets and intake manifold gaskets. Also...before I get into the job....any suggestions? I have a 1970 LS5 (454). Thanks in advance.
Head gasket, intake gasket, valve cover gaskets. Have some anitfreeze on hand since you will lose a little. You may also want to line up some degreaser and paints. This is a good time to do some clean up if you're into that. Other than that, I'm pretty sure easy outs were sent here by satan. :reddevil
Oh yeah, just remembered, before you put the heads back on make sure both surfaces are extremely clean, of course, but check and double check the area around the base of the alignment dowel, and the hole in the head where the dowel goes in. The hole in the head can get full of carbon and stuff and not allow the had to go all the way down. Then the head gasket goes out right there. Another lesson learned the hard way.
