have an 81 vette, going to 17 x8 rims and would like imfo on what tire size to use without modifing trailing arms.. bigger on the rear the better, have 388 stroker in it now.want to drive while deciding on new trans., any help would be appreciated.

17 x 8 with 4" backspace on the front, 255/45/17 tire. Same thing works for the rear.

You can go as large as 17 x 9-1/2 on the rear, 5" backspace 285/40/17 tire.

You will have to relocate the parking brake cable to the top of the trailing arm instead of the outside for clearance if you choose the 9-1/2" rims.

255/45/17 ZR tires on SLP 17X8 rims-fit perfectly front and back without changing or moving anything!
