My wipers stopped working. When move to low or high position no movement. I here what sounds like relay static/chatter. I bought a new wiper relay to try. Where is it located ? Thanks
I don't recall exactly where it is on a 79, but they are usually under the console. On early years, it was mounted to a reinforcementr on the tunnel, under the heater controls. On the 79, it may be under the parking brake handle cover or in the jack compartment.
If you have an Assembly Manual, it will be in there.
most 79's had delay wipers. the controller is in the console. it isnt manuf. anymore. you can buy bypass jumpers to delete it if needed. wipers will work without delay feature.
make sure the motor still has its ground wire attached securely.
Willcox website has some good info on wiper motor troubleshooting.
here is some info on wiper from a 78, but basically the same as 79. they can be a PITA to troubleshoot.= i know. mine had a loose ground connection. took me a week to figure it out. the wiper motor also has a built in circuit breaker inside the motor housing. http://www.corvetteforum.net/c3/tune.../index25.shtml

Will check it out... So then what is this part i just bought from Zip ?
I have a fixed a few. Try running a separate good ground and touch it to the wiper motor. I bet it will fix your problem. should take less than 10 seconds to check

Touch one end to the block and the other to the case of the wiper motor. Make sure your wiper switch is in the on position and if you see the wipers move you have a bad ground. That motor is mounted on fiberglass and ground is crap especially when wires get old. It is starts working just run a wire from nearby ground so it looks neat.
