Anyone that has gutted their pellet type cat converter know where I can get a new plug? I tried to put the old one back in but it fell out on the last drive. I did a quick search on line but couldn't find one.
Would it make a big difference if I went with a new high flow cat on my performance over the factory type cat that I gutted? After doing a quick search it looks like the best one is the car-sound cat. Currently I am just the stock L-48.
Common now. Someone has to have some idea. I know I have read it in other threads but no mention of where to pick up the plug replacement.

Ken,
I did the same thing on my 80 last year. Removed the pellets but with the baffeling inside the cat. it still seemed like a big restriction. I took a 2 1/4 in. hole saw and a big drill motor with a handle attatchment and drilled out the baffles to make a straight thru shot. To plug the hole I drilled and tapped a piece of thin metal[1/4 x 20]longer than the diamater of the hole but narrow enough to be inserted with the cat. up-side down and used what is called a elevator washer[over sized thin washer] on the outside with a 1/4 screw to seal hole.
Just lately for emissions I replaced it with a direct fit car sound cat.
