Looks like you need the 5006 for low/high and the 5001 for high beam.

I love 'em. Had them in my BOSS for years and they are VERY good headlights.

I agree that the Cibie/Marchal (Daniel Stern lighting) are probably the ultimate in Lens design for halogen headlights BUT I am not so sure that they are worth a 50% price premium over the Hella Euros.

I went with these - and it's like night and day from the old sealed beams.

http://www.bigrigchromeshop.com/Merc...Category_Code=

They are metal and glass, and I'm happy with the quality. They come with some bulbs, but I didn't try the lights with them, I went strait away and erplaced them with some Hella bulbs.

This is probably the best $70 I've spent on the car so far. I only replaced the hi/lows, as I didn't really have a problem with my highbeams, and I have even less of one now.

Just a word to the wise about headlight lenses in general-the most important aspect of the light output is the quality of the headlight lens, not the halogen bulb necessarily. The art of optics is basically the science of physics. Contrary to what you would think, all headlights with a glass/plastic lens and a shiny reflector do NOT put out equivalent light. The lens is critical in maximizing the light output in a focused pattern according to its application-think of a lighthouse lens which are highly polished reflectors with lead crystal lenses going back hundred's of years using candles in the beginning and they were very bright and worked even back then.

How do I know the differences in halogen car headlights? I started using Euro halogens in 1978 when I was in high school with my 73 Nova SS-7 inch round Hella H4 bulbs-way way before these lights were even remotely legal in the US. Over the years I have had those lights, Marchal on a 72 Caprice quad lights, Cibie, and since 1983 on the 78 Corvette Hella Euros-55watt/100 watt low beams and 100 watt High beams (I use a relay on the highs to keep the amperage off the headlight switch). These lights are truly incredible even today and are like having portable daylight on the front of the car. I actually had a set of 7 inch glass H4 halogens (no name) from JC Whitney 20 years ago and they are NOT the same as the other manufacturers by any stretch-you get what you pay for like with most things in life! Hope that helps!

For anything above a standard 60/55W you should run relays. For a 60/55W it is optional, but relays will make the lights a bit brighter.

With my 78, I was not able to run the 4 Hella Euro lights even with 55/60 watt low bulbs and 55 watt high beams since the amperage draw will trigger the circuit breaker in the headlight switch. I run the lows on the standard C3 circuit and the 100 watt H1 bulbs off of a relay. The 78 came with sealed beams which draw about 35 watts each or 140 watts for 4 headlights which is what the headlight switch relay was designed for thus the need for a relay when running higher wattage/amperage. I have not experienced brighter lights running a relay versus not although that is a claimed benefit-I have run many headlight/foglight relays over the years but have always run the relay primarily to take the amperage off of the switch so as to not overload it.

I agree with everything you say except for the communist comment, you have obviously never lived under true communism because you have no clue! And 2nd, can we as Americans get thru a day on a corvette tech site without having the Angry American voice his disdain for this the best country on earth. i suggest you go live in China for a year and then give me your opinion of California...I have 2 family members buried at Arlington, two great uncle Dough Boys WWI and a Vietnam uncle...Shame on you for not appreciating what you have, and have been givin, by my family's blood!!!!! JUST TALK CORVETTES, or get on a stump with a megaphone in your home town, and run for office!
