I see in the owners manual that the normal pressure range should be between 30 to 40 psi.
Mine has always been higher than that, like between 40 and 60 psi. (I am not the original owner) Interestingly, I just changed to an AC Delco filter and it seems to read at a more consistent reading but still around 50 psi after it reaches operating temperature.
The engine runs great and I have changed the sender as well. Is this too high? If so I guess it could be an erroneous reading. What are most of you experiencing for oil pressure on stock or modified engines? What could cause this?
30-40 psi for a stock pump is normal, if the P.O. changed the oil pump, could of installed a high volume one, i have a mellings 55high vol,, in my '79 355 (modified) engine, it runs right around 50-55 psi. i run a wix filter.
Sorry, the motor is a 350 from a mid 70s truck as best I can tell. I do not know the history of the motor. However, I just did a head change and noticed that it had .060 over pistons. So it has been rebuilt.
Is 50 psi what you can expect from a high volume or high pressure pump? If it was machined, there is a good chance it has a new or upgraded pump as well.
