Default 1974 Corvette Engineering Specifications

I recently received something from GM that other owners of '74s might find interesting or useful.

Because my '74 was originally delivered in Canada, her build sheet information is still in the records of GM Canada. When I ordered that info, what I also received was a 40+ page booklet containing incredibly detailed engineering specifications for the 1974 model year. The categories of info in the document include:

General (VIN decoder/exterior and interior equip./optional equip./AC)

Dimensions and Weights

Body (including exterior paint process)

Chassis (including frame, steering, suspension, brakes, electrical)

Power Trains (including engine data, fuel system, exhaust, lubrication, cooling, clutches, transmissions, etc.)

I've got this document in Adobe .pdf format. If any other '74 owners would like to take a look, email me.

If you've got a Canadian-delivered '74 and you want to see its original factory specifications, including the date it rolled off the assembly line and the dealer it was delivered to, go to:

http://www.gmcanada.com/english/main...arts_vint.html

To see what the info looks like, here's the sheet that I received from GM:

http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c3/nip...ild_page.shtml

On a separate topic, I got my girl back yesterday from a tune-up and a major brake job, and we went out for a long run ... through the city to turn some heads and out in the country to open 'er up. Very satisfying!

Yup, I do, but note that the car-specific build sheet data is available from GM Canada ONLY for Corvettes that were originally delivered in Canada. I understand that the records for U.S.-delivered C3s were destroyed around the time that production moved from St. Louis to Bowling Green.

Here's the contact paragraph from the webpage I linked in my original post in this thread:

"Call us with your Vehicle Identification (Serial) Number toll-free (in Canada) 1-888-467-6853, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. EASTERN Time. (Outside Canada 1-905-644-3387 or 1-905-644-4060)."

The webpage itself is:

http://www.gmcanada.com/english/main...arts_vint.html

Hope that's helpful.

Thank you, that was more than helpful. My C3 was delivered to canada straight from the St. Louis plant so it'll be very neat to have the original build sheet.

While you cant get build sheets and the like - you can get this same information for american cars (in old fashioned paper format  ) from GM - for example I have it for my 78.

my last bit of information for this was the following:

You can get a "restoration package" at no cost from GM/Chevrolet.
Simply call the Chevy/Geo customer assistance hotline at (800) 222-1020 or 810-696-4800. Have your VIN handy, as they'll ask for it.
The contents of this package varies by year. Call now before they start charging!

In the case of my '78 I recieved about 75-80 pages - xeroxed and stapled in one corner - it included the detailed specifications (1978 MVMA specifications for the corvette) mentioned above plus some promotional literature copies and dealer order forms and order details.

It is not vehicle specific - but it is year specific.

I do not know if the number is still good - but at least there is some resource for the non-canadian owners.
