Default removing a trailing arm

Found a way to get some leverage when removing a trailing arm and thought I would share my finding.

Why do you need leverage?

What are you doing to this poor parking brake bracket.

If your body is off the frame, it's even easier this way:

Couldn't get it to budge until I put the come-along to it. Then it came right out with no problems. I watched for it and didn't bend the parking brake bracket at all. I was willing to bend it however, as I plan to relocate it to the top side of the TA.

I did something similar on my Bronco's front suspension, but used a ratchet strap. Worked good.

Mine too. It took out the grade 8 bolts, shims and residual rust. Used two blades per side.

Once the bolt and shims are removed I have never had a problem with the T/A being stuck.
Unless you were fortunate enough to be able to remove the bolt in its entirety and the arm and shim pack are frozen in the frame pocket.

The issue was that the shims were really stuck. Even sprayed them with liquid wrench the night before. I could get them to move a little with the help of a BFH, but I thought I was going to rock the vette off the jackstands when tugging on the TA. That's when I thought to hook the come-along to the frame itself. Worked really well and didn't bend anything.

I got to admit I was doubtful at first, but it's a good tip actually.
Thanks

What about the rear spring, what do I need to watch for when I unbolt it?

Now, if Bubba had been at work on your car, the "come along" would have already been there when you first removed the wheel.
