I am reinstalling the trailing arms after replacing bushings and find the ends of springs with cushion holes do not center with trailing arm cushion holes. The bolts will not drop thru trailing arms into springs with spring raised near arm. The arms are about 1" forward of the spring ends. Most pictures of this mounting show the bolt holes of arms and spring to be closer if not directly verticle of each other. I am using poly cushions and they are not flexable causing gaps at spring and arm mating surfaces and of course I have to angle the bolts causing them to rub spring cushion plate. They were like this when I removed them! I have the stock 2.25" springs. Both sides are equal in this difference of hole alignment. Any one have seen this before? Thanks, Shark Bit.
I used all rubber when I rebuilt my rear suspension, I don't have any experience with poly.
Mine were also mis-aligned as you describe when installing the new parts. It made the assembly a bit of a challenge, but once the car was lowered and driven, everything lined up fine. I recently removed the spring bolts again to install some new strut rods, and re-assembly was the same as before--hard to line up but fine once together.
you have to raise the trailing arm to an approximate "ride height", and then compress the spring upward to meet it. the holes will align themselves better(not perfectly). in my opinion, install longer spring bolts while you're in there, and you'll be able to get the hafl shafts more parallel to the ground.
