I really want to put in a zz383 in my 72. I have the standard hood, but will move to the lt1 hood which gives me 2 1/4" more clearance (which is still not quite enough most likely). I dont want to go to the L88 hood at all.

Is there a manifold, carb and filter combination that I could use to lower the top of the engine enough to clear the hood?

I run the Edelbrock Perf Air Gap, 1/4 Canton spacer, 750 Quick Fuel DP, Proform 14" drop base air cleaner, and 3" K&N and it fits under my LT1 hood with a regular nut and not a wing nut. Hope this helps.
