Default Stan's headers

Has anybody installed Stan's "Tri Y" Headers in a C2? These headers are very popular in the C3 forum but I don't see anyone talking about them in the C2 forum. I'm interested in putting a set on a 383 I'm installing in my 64 C2.
But I stopped by their shop today and while they make a set of headers for a C3, Stan wasn't sure if they'd fit in a C2.
I figured that if its been done then someone on the C3 forum might know if they went in without issues.
I've posted a similar thread on the C2 side too but I thought I'd ask on the C3 site too

How different are the frames up front and steering? That would be the point of interference I would imagine. The driver side gets really close to the steering box.

I have some on my '81 project. Here are a coupe of shots installed for reference. Hope this helps.

I'm not aware of any differences between the frame of a C2 and a C3 that would affect the area where the headers pass.
Thanks for the pictures, definitely not much room for error.
So how do you like the Tri Y headers?
Can you compare them to a typical 4 into 1 design?

Thanks again.

I'm not going to be much help. I have not yet started the engine in my car, so how they perform relative to anything else, I don't know.

I went with these after reading up on here about the quality and seeing some dyno tests that had the tri-y's outperforming conventional long tubes on a mild street engine, which is all I will ever have. If you want to rev it up high, they will be a limiting factor, but since that's not an issue for me, I figured they would be a good option.

Build quality is excellent, and the folks at Stan's were very helpful when I had questions.

For what it's worth, I did a search on Summit Racing (see links below), and they show all the same headers for both a '65 and '81 from Hedman, Hooker, Patriot and Flowtech, so there is a good chance that what works for one will work for the other, unless there is something particular that they did to accomodate both styles with one part number.

Though as you noticed, there's not much room on the driver side to spare, so I would imagine that, unless they are more or less identical, the C3 setup would be the more space limiting one. Since you are local, maybe they would give you the option of returning them if they don't fit. It would work well for them if they did, then they could advertise for a whole other set of customers once you confirmed that they fit.

Hope this helps.

Well they're not really local or I'd definitely take it to their shop and see how they fit. They're about 200 miles north which is a bit farther than I care to drive my car with it's 4.11 rear end. I just happened to be in the neighborhood on business.
But I like your suggestions about comparing header make and models for C2 vs C3s.
I might ask Stan if he can provide some clearance measurements that I can use to reference.
Hey thanks for the help!
