What is the backspacing on stock 15 x 7 wheels for '68 ?

There are a lot of 15 x 7's in swap meets with 4", 4¼", 4½", etc that are reputed to be Corvette wheels but that just didn't seem correct to me. I wanted to be sure before ordering a set for my '64. I know that stock '68 Rally's fit that car with no problems.

 

The 68 Corvette rally wheels are coded AG; any other code is something other than Corvette. You could get 15x7 rally wheels on Impalas and other makes.

 

Mikes right. I am looking for only 1, to have as my spare. I have 5 15x7 in my basement with the FW code. They are useless to the vette though. Good luck.

Heres a few extra notes
All the rally wheels made in 1967 have big marking letters, no date code, a little bit different shaped center and slightly bigger holes in the center
The 15x7 beauty ring with go on all the 15x6 wheels
All the hubcaps interchange with each other
I'll post how to read the date codes later

Thanks, that's good info. Looks like the '68 Vette wheel is the only 15" with 3¾" backspace.

There are so many wheels out there and some folks try to pass off any 15" Rally as being a Vette wheel, especially if they have trim rings with them.

Thanks, truth be told its a copy and paste from another website but I saved it for future reffrence, hope it helps someone from making the same mistake I did. I only wish I saw it prior to purchasing my own wheels.

 

True. Some will also try to convince you the set of 14" rallies they have for sale are also Corvette.
