Default 1970 Convertible Rebuild

Let me start by saying the project is now several months in. I live in Chicago and after having my Vette sit for way too many years I decided to get it back on the road. Either I had no money and plenty of time, or plenty of money and no time. I live in Chicago and after getting the motor back in and running and cleaning it up I wanted to get the car painted. I contacted several places and people in the area I was quoted outrageous prices many without even seeing the car, and I'll quote " I know what it takes to paint it, I don't need to see it. Others would tell me 10 to 12 thousand plus parts again without seeing it. Frustrating to say the least, I did not need a show car paint job just something I could be proud of and enjoy a weekend cruise or a nice drive up into some country roads. Here are some of the photos I sent to shops prior to going to them for a quote.,,,

I did a lot of the work myself over the course of a spring. New springs front and rear. New ball joints all 4. New steering components tie rods, sleeves, center link and Idler arm. The engine was rebuilt .030 over by a local speed shop and a new clutch and pressure plate were installed, as well as new u-joints all around. I got it running well and could finally enjoy my car after many years of sitting.,,

Well let me get to it, I was looking through the forum in the paint and body sections and I kept reading forums answered by a member who impressed me more and more, every time I would read his replies. I wrote to him through the forum and eventually spoke to him many times. Probably more than he wanted, but here was a forum member who I had never met offering me advise on repairs and what to look for with shops that might do my repaint and body work. After thinking long and hard I decided to ship my car out of state to a complete stranger, which I do not regret, he has kept me up to date with all repairs and found many things I would never had found, Like the car was in accident prior to me owning it,. By the way the forum member is known as DUB, from Corvettes Etc, in Charlotte NC.
I will try to update this every few days till I catch up with work done so far.

You are in good hands. Corvettes Etc is the shop that I use and I'm 100% satisfied. Dub has done work on my car and i would recommend him to anyone that needs repairs. His work is top quality.

Upon inspection by Corvettes etc a slight bend and crack was found in frame. Must have been don prior to me owning it. I've never been involved in a wreck..The front clip was also removed due to excessive spider cracks.], ,
oh well now the front clips coming off and all the body mounts have to be replaced ( I knew that)

Dub installed the convertible top on my 70 and I was very pleased with his professionalism and attention to detail. Just an observation from going through his shop and talking to him it seemed that he worked on C3's more than anything else. Very nice guy.
