The wiper motor on my 82 won't work. Some background. It worked before I replaced the dash. You can hear the relay click, but the motor doesn't turn. I thought it was the motor so I replaced it and still have the same problem. Using a tester it appears that the ground (attached to the cooper tang hanging off of one of the bolts) is hot. I can't figure out why it would be hot all the time, but I suspect this is the problem, but don't know why. Could the switch be plugged in wrong? The washer pump works. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks. Is the ground switch simply plugged into the wiper switch? I'm not sure where the ground should be. I'm hoping it isn't the switch b/c that dash is no picinic to take off and put back on again.

The ground can show hot if it is ungrounded, run a temp ground wire from the back of the alt to the wiper motor and see if it runs.
It can also show hot if it is in fact hot, make sure the black 14 at the starter is grounded and not on the pos post of the solenoid.
The 1978-1982 wiper switch is grounded through the wiring of the harness and not like the 68-77 style cars so you're probably safe there. Unless the wires are not pushed all the way up on the switch. If you need to go back in to the dash you can get to the switch by removing the speedo housing. Instructions can be found here.. http://willcoxcorvette.com/repairand...lp.php?hID=124
Also, do you have intermittent wipers?
The issue could be the controller in the center console.
I believe I'd ground the motor first and see what happens, then go looking else where.
Thank you guys so much for the tips! With your help I found the problem. The ground wire on the starter was not grounded. I grounded it and the wiper motor worked immediately. You guys are the best!!! Thank you very much! You saved me so much time and aggrevation!
