Is there anyway to adjust it laterally.I put a new pulley on it and the crank.the pump pulley is towed in towards the crank.they both run true.looks to be off less than 1/4 inch.maybe something Im not seeing here.they are not bent or wobbling.just curious.
Lateral as in side to side.I added ac so I added the factory add on pulley to the crank.I also added the factory ac pulley to the pump. Its like the pump is tilted toward the crank.it's a factory bracket and gm pump.the cars is a 71sb.
Look in the front of the PS pump housing and see if the front lower bolt is missing this bolt is at about the "7 O'clock" position if your looking at the pump dead on in the front. I was doing some maintenance on my wife's LT-1 roadster last weekend and noticed the pulley was off and tilted and upon further inspection, I found that bolt missing. The bolt goes from the cast iron pump casting to the stamped bracket and is a real PITA! to put on with the pulley in place (you will probably have to pull off the pulley to get a bolt to fit.)
If the pulley is parallel to the crank pulley but, not in line, you will have to make a shim plate to move pump/bracket assembly forward to align it properly. 1/4" of pulley misalignment can cause belt throwing at 4-5000RPM so it should be addressed.
If you have the cast iron 3 spoke PS pulley on your pump, you need to change to the stamped steel solid pulley for proper alignment with A/C pulleys.

I already changed to the stamped pulley.Ill take a look tonight when I get back from work and see if the bolt is missing.the only thing that looks out of place is the adjusting bracket is bolted in between the motor mount and the block.diagram shows it on the outside of the motor mount plate.the guy I bought it from rebuilt the engine and probably put the pump brackets on with the engine out.
I took a look at it and that bolts in place.maybe if I loosen it up in the bracket it will move it over enough. Its close but not close enough to be parallel with crank pulley.
