Any way to bench test the electronic tach in an 82. Put on a new circuit board and I got nothing when I turn the key. I have power at the connector a good ground and the white wire from the distributor has continuity from the dist to the connector. The printed circuit is good from the connector to the tach terminals. I don't know if it worked before I got the car. The dash was out of it. The owner had me get a new circuit board while I had it apart. Any ideas.
Why is it the little crap takes the most time. This tach is taking way to much time. I have the tach out and apply power and a ground and get no movement. The board is brand new. I do not know if the tach was working before. I assume so because he would have told me differently.
Plus nothing on this interior is fitting correctly. Every new part is bigger or different shape and does not fit. I would much rather yank engines and transmissions and trailing arms and rears than this little interior BS. Just ranting!

Gordon-
When you apply power and ground, the tach should go to zero. This is the zero set. only when you apply the signal will the needle move.
For some reason, CA Imported boards were made wrong and you must install the washers.
I'm just glad this wasn't our board..
The washers are about the thickness of construction paper and you just need something to insulate the board from making contact with the metal can. It's shorting out!
Now when you get done with that.. just watch the video at the link I posted and it will walk you through how to do the zero set!
